Repair to cabinet
This old family cabinet with the broken glass in the leadlight door was repaired at little cost
it is now restored to its former condition.
RESTORATION WORK
This is a recent job undertaken to restore a very sad looking front door leadlight, it has spent the last 80 years in a beach side property open to sea air elements that has taken it's toll on the integrity of the lead.
A rubbing was taken before removal and a sheet of contact film was placed on one side to hold everything in place. In the studio this panel was dismantled the glass cleaned and the job of reconstruction with new lead began. On completion after polishing this panel now looks like new and will now see another 80 to 100 years.
Art Nouveau Piece in construction
Above is piece of my work in action. Glass pieces placed on ''cartoon''. Lead came cut to size. On completion of this process leaded joints will be soldered both sides. Flux cleaned away prior to putty sealing between glass and lead. Finished product to be posted soon. I am busy with various commissions and restoration work and will keep a record to post on this site.
